II. Cách dùng
1. Mang nghĩa"cắt cái gì"
=to remove something by cutting it

- Cut the tops off the carrots.
- Why did you cut off all your hair?
2. Mang nghĩa"cắt điện, cắt trợ cấp..."
=to prevent someone from ever receiving your money or property

- The government has threatened to cut off our funding.
- They cut off the electricity last week.
- The electricity is cut off. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Bị cúp điện rồi)
- Her father cut her off without a penny.
- Her father cut off her allowance. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Bố cô ấy đã cắt trợ cấp cho cô ta)
3. Mang nghĩa"chặn đường ai"
=to stop someone from going somewhere, especially by blocking their way

- A second policeman cut off his escape.
- Cut off the enemy's retreat. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Hãy chặn đường rút lui của địch đi)
4. Mang nghĩa"chặn không cho ai vào/ra"
=to make a place difficult or impossible to enter, leave, or communicate with/to prevent someone from leaving a place, or from communicating with people in another place

=to stop having a close or friendly relationship with someone
