Phrasal Verb - cụm động từ - là một trong những nội dung cần thiết cho tất cả người học và muốn học tốt tiếng Anh. Học Phrasal verb vô cùng quan trọng chúng giúp chúng ta vừa có được vốn từ vựng nói riêng và vừa có có được những động từ tiếng Anh cần thiết nhất giúp người học tiếng Anh làm chủ trong giao tiếp. Sau đây sẽ là danh sách Phrasal Verb bắt đầu bằng từ CALL mà bạn nên biết (có thể ứng dụng vào IELTS).

Call after
Nghĩa: To give a child the same name as someone else, especially a family member (đặt tên theo tên ai đó)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: We have CALLED him Benjamin AFTER his father.
Call around/ round
Nghĩa: To go to someone’s house to visit them (đến nhà ai đó)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: I CALLED AROUND yesterday but you weren’t there.
Call away
Nghĩa: Summon; to cause to depart (gọi đi)

Call back
Nghĩa 1: To return a phone call or to phone someone again (gọi lại)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: He’s on another call at the moment, but I will get him to CALL you BACK.
Nghĩa 2: To return to a place (trở về)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: She said I could CALL BACK later today to collect the laundry
Nghĩa 3: To be asked to return for a second interview or a second audition (chọn ai đó dự phỏng vấn lần 2)

Call by
Nghĩa: To visit somewhere briefly whilst on your way to somewhere else. (ghé ngang qua nhà ai đó trên đường đi)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: I thought it my might be nice to CALL BY Aunt Betty’s house on our way to Bristol.
Call for
Nghĩa 1: Shout out in order to summon (a person) (kêu ai đến)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: I leant out of the back door and CALLED FOR Lucy.
Nghĩa 2: Ask for in a loud voice (gọi món)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: We finished the main course in short order and CALLED FOR more wine.
Nghĩa 3: Request, demand (yêu cầu)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: The government has CALLED FOR an end to hostilities in the region.
Nghĩa 4: Necessitate, demand (cần)

Nghĩa 5: To go somewhere to pick someone or something up (đón ai đó)

Call forth
Nghĩa: To elicit a reaction (gợi ra phản ứng)

Call in
Nghĩa 1: To phone (gọi điện thoại)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: The radio station’s listeners have been CALLING IN all morning with answers to the quiz.
Nghĩa 2: To visit someone (thăm ai đó)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: Can you CALL IN on your grandmother on your way home and make sure she is alright?
Nghĩa 3: To ask a person, especially an expert, to come to do something (kêu ai đó làm gì đó, thường là chuyên gia)

Nghĩa 4: To ask someone to enter a room (kêu ai đó vào phòng)

Call off
Nghĩa 1: To cancel an organised event (hủy sự kiện)

Nghĩa 2: To stop doing an activity (dừng làm việc gì)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: We had to CALL OFF the search when it became too dark to continue.
Call on
Nghĩa 1: To visit someone (thăm ai đó)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: I am going to CALL ON my mother on the way home from work.
Nghĩa 2: To demand or request that someone do something (yêu cầu làm gì)
IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: The supporters of the opposition CALLED ON the government to call a new election.
Nghĩa 3: To use a quality, usually something that requires a great effort, in order to achieve something (dùng sức/ khả năng để đạt được điều gì)

Nghĩa 4: To ask for an answer or response (kêu trả lời)

Nghĩa 5: Correct; to point out an error or untruth (chỉ ra lỗi sai)

Call up
Nghĩa 1: To phone somebody (gọi)

Nghĩa 2: To summon for military service, especially during a war (triệu tập - thường dùng trong quân đội)

Nghĩa 4: To make you remember or recall something (khiến ai đó nhớ về)
