II. Cách dùng phrasal verb: turn back
1. Mang nghĩa"đổi hướng, quay đầu lại, làm ai đó đổi hướng/quay đầu lại, quay xe"
=If you turn back or if someone turns you back when you are going somewhere, you change direction and go towards where you started from/to go back in the direction you came from, or to make someone or something do this

- She turned back towards the crossroads.
- They were very nearly forced to turn back.
- It’s getting late – maybe we should turn back.
- Bad weather forced them to turn back. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Thời tiết xấu đã buộc họ phải trở lại)
- She could still turn back. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Cô ấy quay ra cũng còn kịp)
- She couldn't turn back time. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Cô ta không thể quay ngược thời gian)
- The beautiful days go never turn back. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Những ngày tháng đẹp đẽ đã qua đi sẽ không bao giờ trở lại)
- You can't turn back the wheel of history. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Anh không thể quay ngược bánh xe lịch sử)
- The people are turning back to natural resources to survive.
- The weather became so bad that they had to turn back.
- Our car was turned back at the border.
- The UN convoy was turned back at the border.
- Police attempted to turn back protesters marching towards parliament
2. cannot turn back = Mang nghĩa"không thể quay đầu lại, đâm lao phải theo lao"
=If you cannot turn back, you cannot change your plans and decide not to do something, because the action you have already taken makes it impossible.

- We said we would do it—there can be no turning back.
- We’ve promised to help, and there’s no turning back (=you cannot change this)!
